Gatskop 2021 is nearly here! This festival of friendly competition will once again be an opportunity for novice pilots to join in the fun, get some coaching and experience the thrill of flying with new friends.
Background
Gatskop has a long history. It was started in the mid 1990s (nobody seems to know when the first one was held – old age dims memories) as a friendly competition for novice pilots and challenge between the two clubs at the time, namely the Glen Club and the Overberg Club. Invitation was extended to the local paragliding schools who were encouraged to enter their students and newly qualified students. Prizes were awarded on an honesty system for spot landings, personal bests in height gain and distance flown. Instructors would fly with, and lead their students.
