{"id":218,"date":"2023-05-30T08:32:08","date_gmt":"2023-05-30T06:32:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sahpa.co.za\/site-guide\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=218"},"modified":"2023-12-25T02:53:09","modified_gmt":"2023-12-25T00:53:09","slug":"sahpa-membership","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/sahpa.co.za\/site-guide\/sites\/sahpa-membership\/","title":{"rendered":"SAHPA Membership"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-6dafbfb6\">\n<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-54d5a311\">\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Legal requirements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Every pilot flying in South Africa is obligated to comply with the following requirements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Must have a valid SACAA licence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must have&nbsp;<em>3rd Party Liability Aviation Insurance<\/em>&nbsp;(note: your domestic insurance policy does not cover aviation-related claims).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must be a member of the relevant&nbsp;<em>Aviation Recreation Organisation<\/em>&nbsp;(ARO). Please refer to the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/caa.mylexisnexis.co.za\/\" target=\"_blank\">Civil Aviation Regulations, Part 94.06.1 (2) and 94.06 (3)<\/a>. SAHPA is the approved ARO for PG\/HG\/PPG.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must have permission from the landowner to launch from the site. Refer to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/caa.mylexisnexis.co.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Civil Aviation Regulations Part 94.06.2 (1)(g)<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must comply with the Civil Aviation Act, and also the Regulations and Technical Standards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SAHPA Membership<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Your SAHPA membership annual fee is included in a bundle that consists of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>SACAA Licence Renewal fee<\/strong>&nbsp;(required for local pilots)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>SAHPA Membership<\/strong>&nbsp;(required to comply with&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/caa.mylexisnexis.co.za\/\" target=\"_blank\">Civil Aviation Regulations, Part 94.06.1 (2) and 94.06 (3)<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>3rd Party Liability Aviation Insurance<\/strong>&nbsp;(required)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>ICASA Radio Licence<\/strong>&nbsp;(optional)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>FAI Sporting Licence<\/strong>&nbsp;(optional, only required if you take part in FAI-sanctioned competitions)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SAHPA Membership bestows permission on members to fly from all sites listed in the AIP ENR 5.5. See the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sahpa.co.za\/site-register\/\">SAHPA Site Register<\/a>&nbsp;for details. This means that SAHPA members do not have to approach land-owners directly for permission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Learner Membership<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are a novice pilot, you must apply for <a href=\"https:\/\/members.sahpa.co.za\/membership\/application\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/members.sahpa.co.za\/membership\/application\">SAHPA Learner Membership<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Foreign Membership<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Visiting pilots may apply for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/members.sahpa.co.za\/membership\/application\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/members.sahpa.co.za\/membership\/application\">SAHPA Foreign Membership<\/a>\u00a0(2 or 6 months).<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Legal requirements Every pilot flying in South Africa is obligated to comply with the following requirements: SAHPA Membership Your SAHPA membership annual fee is included in a bundle that consists of the following: Learner Membership If you are a novice pilot, you must apply for SAHPA Learner Membership.
