On Wednesday 22 January 2025 at approximately 12:30, an experienced 67-year old South African paragliding instructor was involved in a fatal accident roughly 2km south of Citrusdal.

On the afternoon of Thursday 09 January 2025, a 64 year old recreational paraglider pilot visiting from Switzerland died of his injuries after an accident near Porterville. The Search and Rescue was co-ordinated by the Aeronautical Rescue Co-ordination Centre (ARCC).
On Friday 22nd March 2024, a 37 year old recreational paraglider pilot visiting from Gauteng died of his injuries after an accident near Citrusdal.
A 58-year old Irish tandem paragliding passenger died on Monday afternoon (3rd July 2023) on the Sea Point Promenade in Cape Town.
A paragliding pilot died of his injuries on Saturday evening (25th February 2023) on the mountainside near Wolseley in the Western Cape.

SAHPA regrets to announce a fatal Powered Paragliding (PPG) accident on Sunday, 26th September 2021. The pilot was from Mozambique. The incident was reported to SAPS, however SAHPA has no further information.
